Kabza (“Kabza,” “we,” “us”) is a territory-capture running app. You run a closed loop, and the ground inside it becomes your territory on a shared map. To do that we need your location while you run and a basic account to hold your claims. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
- Account information. When you sign in we receive your name and email address from your chosen provider. Kabza uses Firebase Authentication (Google) and, where you choose it, Facebook Login. We store your email and a provider account identifier so we can recognise you on return.
- Location data (GPS). During an active run the app records your device’s GPS track (a series of latitude/longitude points with timestamps). This is the core of the product: the loop you run is turned into a territory polygon on the map. Location is only collected while you are recording a run.
- Gameplay data. The territories you claim, area captured, run history, and leaderboard standing.
- Technical data. Basic device and app information (app version, device type, and diagnostic logs) needed to operate the service and diagnose problems.
We do not collect your Facebook or Google password. Sign-in is handled by those providers; Kabza only receives the identity token they issue.
How we use your information
- Create and secure your account and keep you signed in.
- Turn your recorded run into a territory claim and display it on the map with your name.
- Resolve overlaps between players (ground is held by whoever ran it last) and rank players on the leaderboard.
- Operate, maintain, debug, and improve the app.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use your location for advertising.
Service providers we share with
We share the minimum data needed with providers that run parts of the service on our behalf:
- Google Firebase Authentication — verifies your identity token when you sign in.
- Meta / Facebook Login — if you choose to sign in with Facebook, Meta handles that authentication. See Meta’s own Privacy Policy.
- Our hosting — run and territory data is stored on our own servers (PostGIS geometry) used to operate Kabza.
Data retention
We keep your account and gameplay data for as long as your account is active. Run tracks and claimed territories are retained so the map and leaderboard stay consistent. When you delete your account we remove your personal data as described below.
Deleting your data
You can request deletion of your Kabza account and associated personal data at any time. Full instructions are on our Data Deletion page. In short: email [email protected] from your account email and we will delete your data within 30 days.
Children
Kabza is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will remove it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be reflected by the “Last updated” date at the top of this page.
